Her Hatred (Poem)

It has always been like this.

I hated her for whatever she did.

When she smiled,

I reminded her of her crooked teeth.

When she spoke,

I reminded her of her irritating voice.

When she was silent,

I called her coward, docile.

When she cried,

I wasn’t by her side.

She lost focus,

I shamed her beyond pain.

When she got it back,

I called her arrogant.

She was sad, I made her anxious.

She was anxious, I made her depressed.

She was brittle, I made her broken.

I made her lose herself.

Who is she?

You might ask.

She is me. Myself!

And it has always been like this.

‘Cause I hated her forever.

Hello, everyone! Sorry if this short poem was too gloomy to become the first post of this year. Hope you all had a great start for 2021. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

Since my last poem received wonderful support from you all, I wanted to publish this poem on self-hatred because it has been more than once I faced something very similar to it, and the past year (I can’t believe it’s past now!) has overwhelmingly presented this before my conscience. I know my poem isn’t too well-expressed, but I just wanted to tell you all :

This year, be kinder to yourself!

And also to others. It’s a great time you realise your privileges and acknowledge them. Be grateful.

I would love to include a feel good quote from a book I adored for quite some time.

Find and spread happiness

Let’s conclude here. Many wonderful people joined my blog family last month, I welcome them. In case you are interested in knowing more about the creativity I possibly try to engage in, check out these calligraphy I made.

Also, if you read my last post, where I shared some plans I had for my blog for this year, you might have known that from now, I’ll publish new posts on every Saturdays.

That’s all for today. I’ll probably be participating in some fun QnA tag next week. I also made a new portrait long ago, hopefully, I’ll share it along with the tag. Until then, follow Esdi Blogs for more creative and bookish posts.

Consider sharing my writing with your friends and followers on social media. It would be my New Year gift!

Keep supporting! Spread love!

  1. Sage advice Esdi.
When quiet distrust, grim fear and zero confidence used to all be mine, these things bent my posture, darkened my gaze and paled my skin. I was not much approachable.
Some tried to be a part of my life. I feared them. They didn’t want to hurt me, they only wanted to love me but I wouldn’t let them.
When I go easier on myself and others, however, I am tall, proud and gorgeous with a much more convincing smile.
Thanks for this post mate, I still need reminding sometimes.

  3. Really wonderful poem! I think we are too hard on ourselves sometimes and speak to ourselves in a way we would never speak to anyone else. Thank you for reminding us about the importance of self love.

    1. Thank you soo much for this wonderful comment! It’s so essential to understand the importance of loving yourself the way you are, and supporting your improvement instead of hurting it with negativities.❤

  4. Such a deep and beautiful post! And sadly, it’s a reality for so many! It’s also relatable because I used to do the same thing to myself when I was young. Thank goodness I opened my eyes and saw my worth! Thank you so much for posting, Esdi. Wishing you a very happy and prosperous new year.
